The Blizzard of 2011

February 2011 broke records with 28.7 total inches of snow, making it the snowiest on record for the Chicago area and shattering the 27.8 inches record set in 1896.  There was a blizzard at the beginning of the month that kept the city and suburbs indoors - schools and offices were all closed, because people could not get out of their homes after over 20 inches of snow fell on February 1.

It took a long time for my dad to clear the driveway, but Porter was a big help.  I gave my mom - 35 weeks pregnant at the time - a good reason to stay inside and make hot chocolate instead of shoveling snow!
