The Mikus Family Baby Shower

My mini-shower was a fun afternoon with Oma, my aunts and cousins.  We had brunch at the Country Squire and also celebrated Oma's birthday.  Megan even played two songs on the grand piano in the restaurant, the Polar Express song was so good.  I'm in the picture below - you just can't see me!

Megan and Angela both love my new blanket - it is the softest blanket you've ever felt

This is my first birthday celebration of Oma's birthday

Angela is such a good knitter, she made me a pink hat and my first little pink slippers.  She also made a yellow blanket and my first yellow "mary janes" which I know I'm going to love.

And speaking of new clothes, everyone keeps saying I have so many already - but really, can a girl have too many clothes...?

Baby Shower at Work

My mom's co-workers threw her a wonderful shower on Valentine's Day.  She received so many great things - all for me!  Her friends at work were all so generous.  I love all my new clothes, and I just can't wait to wear them.

There were two huge cakes, and they were both delicious and so beautiful - they almost looked like wedding cakes.

Look at those swollen feet and ankles - by the end, the only shoes that would fit were Crocs clogs!

Mom needed help getting all the great new gear home after the shower.  She also received beautiful red roses at work for Valentine's Day.

The Blizzard of 2011

February 2011 broke records with 28.7 total inches of snow, making it the snowiest on record for the Chicago area and shattering the 27.8 inches record set in 1896.  There was a blizzard at the beginning of the month that kept the city and suburbs indoors - schools and offices were all closed, because people could not get out of their homes after over 20 inches of snow fell on February 1.

It took a long time for my dad to clear the driveway, but Porter was a big help.  I gave my mom - 35 weeks pregnant at the time - a good reason to stay inside and make hot chocolate instead of shoveling snow!
